The art installation »versatile viewpoint« was created to the topic »flee & hope«. It shall challenge and question the own point of view in a subtle and mind opening sense.

3 installations raise the question of personal viewpoint and attitude towards refugee policy in contemplation to the entire society.

For this, surreal and poetic pictures were created to raise different questions and ways of looking at each image.

2 statements always stand across from each other. Poems (in german) enable deeper insights.

Every observer decides and determines the own position by choosing where to stand.

Awareness will only come, if you change your own location, change your point of view and think about what this movement just did with your own perception of things.

In my mind the topic of »flee & hope« does not only contain the hope of people who need to flee but also the trust and hope, that we as a society recognize the chance and possibility to evolve – the privilege to show strength and attitude in a humanistic sense and to grow with more respect for one another. Help should not be given with an expectation for gratitude, but because helping makes us human in a fundamental way.

This work is very aware of giving a lot of latitude for interpretation. It´s not meant to tell anybody what to think.

Die Ausstellung »versatile viewpoint« wurde zum Thema »Flucht & Hoffnung« kreiert. Sie soll den eigenen Standpunkt auf subtile und Gedanken anregende Weise hinterfragen und herausfordern. 

3 Installationen stellen die Frage nach persönlicher Haltung und Stellungnahme zur Flüchtlingspolitik in Reflexion auf die gesamte Gesellschaft. 

Verwendet werden hierfür surreale, poetische Bilder, die verschiedene Fragen und Betrachtungsweisen aufwerfen.
Jeweils 2 Aussagen stehen sich immer gegenüber.
Ein Gedicht ermöglicht tieferen Einblick. 

Jeder Betrachter bestimmt selbst über den gewählten Standort, seine Sichtweise. Erkenntnis erlangt man erst durch die eigene Auseinandersetzung mit den einzelnen Werken, indem man nicht nur den Standort wechselt, sondern die Arbeit auch mental überdenkt. 

Aus meiner Sicht liegt im Thema »Flucht & Hoffnung« nicht einzig die Hoffnung geflohener Menschen auf Hilfe, sondern vielmehr der Glaube daran, dass wir als Gesellschaft die Chance wahrnehmen, uns weiterentwickeln zu dürfen – das Privileg, Haltung zeigen zu können und im humanistischen Sinne zu wachsen. Hilfe sollte nicht aus der Erwartung auf Dankbarkeit entstehen, sondern weil sie uns human, also menschlich macht. 

Die Arbeit lässt bewusst sehr großen Spielraum für Interpretationen.

»roots« was separated in 3 see-through acrylic images. The entire image can only be seen, if you look through all images at an angle from front to back, or back to front. It is however also possible to wander through the image in between.

Standing on the side of the tree, you will see the image metaphorically from the view of a growing society. Standing on the other side you will see it from the view of a single person floating in the air.

Looking through all images you can combine the image in a manner that the person will sit on the roots of the tree and is symbolically able to find a quiet, restful place to draw strength from.

»roots« wurde in 3 durchsichtige Acrylbilder aufgeteilt. Das gesamte Bild sieht man nur, wenn man von vorne oder von hinten durch alle 3 Scheiben blickt. Man kann sich aber wahlweise auch zwischen den Scheiben bewegen. Steht man auf der Seite des Baumes, betrachtet man das Bild aus Sicht der wachsenden Gesellschaft. Steht man auf der anderen Seite betrachtet man das Bild aus Sicht der einzelnen Person.
Auf beiden Seiten kann man den Baum mit der Person „zusammenführen“ wenn man den Blick richtet. Somit kann die Person symbolisch angelehnt an die Gesellschaft Halt, Ruhe und Kraft finden.

»updown« has to be tilted. You decide, how you want to see the image and you need to change it yourself. You either see the person falling down or moving upwards. After changing the image you need to change your point of view and walk over to the other side to see the “new” image.

You also need to be aware of how you want other people to see the image for the first time, before you leave.

»updown« wird gekippt.
Man entscheidet, wie man es sehen will und muss aktiv etwas bewegen. Einerseits kann die Person im Bild fallen oder aber nach oben aufschweben. Das Bild muss eigenhändig bewegt werden und man muss dann um das Bild herumgehen und seinen Standpunkt effektiv ändern. Außerdem hinterlässt man eine bestimmte Ansicht für den Nächsten, der nach einem vorbei kommt.

»shell« is an 8m long image. It is built like a shell, that you enter like an open room. A small entry is supposed to make you curious. The whole image can never be seen at once. You need to turn yourself around to see the bigger picture. The symbol of a shell was used as a hiding place and a home at the same time. At the end of hundreds of shells you will find a person evolving out of one big shell – a symbol to give room for development to each and everyone.

»shell« ist ein 8m langes Bild, gebaut wie ein Muschel, welches man wie einen Raum betritt. Eine kleine Öffnung macht neugierig. Das gesamte Bild kann nie auf einmal gesehen werden. Man muss sich um sich selbst drehen um es zu erfassen. Das Symbol der Muschel kann gleichermaßen ein Versteck, wie ein Zuhause sein. Am Ende der endlosen Muscheln entschwebt eine Person – ein Symbol für die Entfaltung jedes Einzelnen.
